My family finally settled down in Irvine, California in 1972 where I graduated from University High School and went on to U.C.I. My father was in the Air Force and we had traveled extensively.
My earliest memory is being lost in Pompeii at the age of three during the time we lived in Italy. Yet somehow I did develop a life long fondness for ancient architecture and mythology. Classical esthetics and imagery are still a strong influence in my work.
My definition of Art? “Art is when a human being transforms the physical into something spiritual” I hope my works will make a positive difference in the quality of the lives they touch. With my landscapes I work on painting in the tradition of the American Sublime style dating back to the Hudson River school of painting. I seek not to show a scene as it is normally seen every day. Instead I hope to reveal a special moment in time when the weather and time of day create extraordinary air and light. I bring this together with the myriad details of the leaves and rocks and water to emulate the beautiful spectacle of nature. One of those moments you feel privileged to have witnessed. still more...
